On August 1st of 2020 Atlanta-based MC Obeah joined a host of other artists and creatives for Free Peachtree Project, a single-day online hub for Atlanta’s music and arts community to stand together, united in the call for meaningful policy reform, and meaningful personal action.

Obeah joined over 30 other artists in sharing their talents via livestream for the event, and used his set to not only share performances of several tracks, but also highlight many of the social and economic issues plaguing the ATL community. “My FPP set was a rare opportunity to deeply explain some of the thoughts and inspiration behind several of my songs that are more focused on social commentary, systemic racism, and police violence. This is the only time I’ve ever done a set like this.” – Adam Venable (Obeah).

Social action and meaningful reform are important for each of us to take part in (now more than ever), though sometimes, we must take time to center ourselves and regain focus on what’s important in life. Enter “Way Up/Vibe Catcher”, Obeah’s first vinyl project released via Philos Records on July 31st, 2020. “Both of these songs, written during the same period of time when Niles sent me a bunch of beats, are about different types of escapism. Way Up is more about escaping with a lover away from the daily grind, while Vibe Catcher is more about solitude and checking out from society for self reflection, self love, and healing,” said Adam.

Way Up/Vibe Catcher is available everywhere now, and for purchase on 7″ 45rpm vinyl records here.
